During the activity period on April 5, students, faculty and staff gathered in the Welch Activity Center to celebrate the men’s basketball team’s State championship, the school’s first in Class 4A and only the second in the school history.

The Pride of the Irish played the song school during the assembly, and men’s basketball Head Coach Mr. Jason Delaney introduced the members of the State championship team, which easily defeated Chesterton for the Class 4A State title 65-31 on March 26 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Delaney is the first coach in the history of Indiana high school basketball to have three teams from three different schools win State basketball titles.

Members of the team presented the State championship trophy to School President Dr. Robert Bridges and Principal Mrs. Julie Barthel.
