Head Coach Mr. Rick Streiff has released the 2017 varsity football schedule, with only three of the nine regular season games against Indiana opponents.

Streiff said, “Unfortunately for us, most teams in Indiana play in a conference after week two of the season. Most also have a full schedule because of that. Since we are not in a conference, it becomes very difficult to find games. “Some of the teams we are playing have the same issue.

The schedule we will play this year may be the most difficult schedule we have ever put together in terms of opponents and travel. It will definitely make us a better team. Any time you play the people we have on our schedule you will find out two things: First, what do you do well? And second, what will other teams try to take advantage of against you?

The team opens the regular season Aug. 18 against at Louisville (Kentucky) St. Xavier and plays the last game before the Sectional hosting Center Grove on Oct. 13.

The varsity will make other out-of-state trips to Detroit (Aug. 26 vs. King), Cincinnati (Sept. 15 against St. Xavier) and to Union, Kentucky (Sept. 29 against Ryle).

The Irish begin Class 5A tournament play Oct. 20. The 5A playoffs wrap up Nov. 24 with the State championship game at Lucas Oil Stadium.
