In an email to the student body, Vice Principal Mr. Jere Kusbuske has announced that Channel 13’s Operation Football, which covers high school football in Central Indiana, will be in the Welch Activity Center from 5 to 7 a.m. on Oct. 12 — and he has issued a challenge for students involving that visit.

While Kubuske wrote that he didn’t expect a huge turnout for the entire two hours, he did encourage students to flock to the gym from 6:30 to 7 that morning, and he made two promises:

If 300 students show up holding signs, all red lanyard violations from the first quarter will be forgiven. (Red lanyards are issued to students who lose their assigned color-coded lanyard and have to wear the dreaded scarlet for the day,.)

If 500 students are there holding signs, the leprechaun will shave Kubuske’s head.

Kubuske reminded students that the signs and students’ behavior should reflect the school’s code of conduct, be in good taste and adhere to the standards of Christian modesty.
