Senior Ross Welch is one of eight Marion County men’s high school basketball players to receive a $1,000 scholarship from the Downtown Kiwanis Club. Welch was honored on March 22 at the 73rdannual Indiana high school boys’ basketball State Finals luncheon, which was sponsored by Pacers Sports and Entertainment.

About his honor, Welch said, “It was exciting to be recognized for my achievements on the basketball court and in the classroom, but I give a large amount of the credit to Coach (Jason) Delaney and my parents for pushing me to be the best version of myself on the basketball court and in the classroom.

“I wouldn’t be in this position without these people in my life.”

Welch plans to attend Indiana University and major in economic consulting at the Kelley School of Business.
