ShamrAuction is one of the largest fundraisers in the Midwest, promoting student excellence and helping with need-based tuition assistance.

ShamrAuction is a time to bring together alumni, staff, students and friends to enjoy a night full of fun activities. ShamrAuction is new to some, but is a long lived tradition at this school to which all are welcome.

Senior director of advancement Mrs. Michelle Taylor-Rhodes ’01 has been involved with ShamrAuction for about nine years as well as being a volunteer when she was a student.

ShamrAuction has been a tradition for 43 years and has raised up to $700,000 in a year. “It isessentially the school’s premier fundraising event,” said Taylor. ShamrAuction has welcomed a population of alumni and sponsors such as Community Health Network, DeHaan Family Foundation, O’Neal Golf Management and many more supportive families and anonymous sponsors.

When registering for the ShamrAuction, there are specific sponsor levels such as blue and gold sponsor, emerald sponsor, Irish sponsor, Shamrock sponsor and table sponsors. The prices for sponsoring range from $2,500 to $25,000.

As the expenses are large, the impact is larger and sponsoring a table is a great way to be more engaged with the event as well as obtaining publicity for your company, says Taylor. Taylor said if anyone is interested in sponsoring or volunteering to contact her through email at [email protected]

ShamrAuction offers an online and physical silent auction that can consist of  two to three day vacations to the destination of your choice, gift cards to your favorite restaurant, Irish spirit wear and lots more. For those wanting an extra shot at a prize from the raffle, the early bird raffle drawings provide you with an opportunity to win a grand prize of $15,000. Raffle tickets are $100, although those in the early bird drawings also are re-entered into the raffle that takes place the night of ShamrAuction on Feb. 29.

One of the most impactful years for ShamrAuction was in 2015, when Cathedral experienced the passing of Jen Maginot. From the walk in Maginot’s honor, the event raised $500,000, said Taylor.

According to Taylor this year’s theme is Copa Cathedral. This year at ShamrAuction, organizers hope for a performance from the Latin Dance team as well as many other surprises.

ShamrAuction is a time to gather with peers, family and friends to enjoy a night full of entertainment. Mark your calendars, because no one will want to miss out on the most wonderful night of the year.
