Why did you choose to apply to Cathedral? Growing up in the northern suburbs of Indianapolis, I always had a great admiration for Cathedral, even if they were somewhat of a crosstown rivalry. I chose to apply to Cathedral because I was very excited about the possibility to work at a school that values faith, a family atmosphere and diversity as much as everyone at Cathedral does.
Describe your professional experience prior to Cathedral. During my time at the University of Dayton, I completed my year of student teaching at Chaminade Julienne High School in Dayton, Ohio and I have also served for two summers at St. Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology with the One Bread One Cup high school program.
This year’s Cathedral theme is Excellence. How will you carry out this goal in your classroom? I plan to strive for excellence in Cathedral’s mission of educating the hearts and minds of all. I believe social studies classes are meant for engagement and discussion that will help form young men and women into contributing members of their community.
What are your professional and personal goals at Cathedral this year? My goal for this year at Cathedral is to contribute to the Cathedral family that I have been able to observe for quite some time. Professionally, my hope is that students will develop into stronger learners, communicators and citizens as well as gain a deeper appreciation for social studies. Personally, my goal is to be involved in the school community and to grow in fellowship with so many great students and colleagues.
What is an interesting fact about you that students would be surprised to know? I came into the Catholic Church as a convert during Easter of 2017 at the end of my freshman year in college.
